![]() "Furrows" | Sarah McFalls grew up in Memphis, spending her early years sleeping under a comforter printed with Picasso’s artwork and taking family vacations strategically planned around museum visits instead of Disneyland. This is probably why she decided to study art history. After graduating in 2008 from the University of the South, she took a fateful, two-day Greyhound bus ride to Central Pennsylvania where she was selected to serve as the graduate assistant, exhibition hanger, art mover, and researcher at the Samek Art Gallery. When she wasn’t at the gallery, she was painting in her studio. Last July, she relocated to Knoxville to serve as the collections manager for the Ewing Gallery at UT. She has been showing her work since 2009, and has been in exhibitions in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and regional Tennessee. Lately, she has been painting landscapes – not to paint the location, but to use its form as a place to experiment with media. More of her work can be seen here. http://web.utk.edu/~smcfalls To learn more about this artist or to purchase a piece of their work, contact the Arts & Culture Alliance of Greater Knoxville at (865) 523-7543 or www.knoxalliance.com. |
