  "Tobacco" | John Edwin May (b 1960) teaches photography at Pellissippi State Community College's Department of Media and Technology. May studied photography at Lincoln Memorial University, University of South Carolina and East Tennessee State University, where he earned an MFA in 2010. He has held teaching posts at Lincoln Memorial University, Walters State Community College, East Tennessee State University, and Arrowmont School of Art. An avid workshop participant, he has studied with Marsha Burns, Mark Goodman, Mary Ellen Mark, John Sexton, and Joyce Tenneson. May's photographic work has been exhibited regionally and nationally. He primarily uses digital media to create his work. Of recent, his intereste has been photographing the small-town wrestling venues wiht its constructed realities.
