During the partial closure of I-40, please use the following directions to minimize the time it takes you to get to McGhee Tyson Airport. Route alterations may be necessary, so plan your route to the airport ahead of time. We appreciate your patience during the I-40 construction project.

From the East (I-40):
I-40 westbound toward Knoxville.
Take I-640 (Exit 393) on the east side of Knoxville.
Continue for 7.0 miles, exit I-275 south (Exit 3A).
Continue for 2.7 miles, take I-40 west, and follow exit 386B to Alcoa Highway/US 129.
Follow US 129 across Tennessee River, continue for approximately 12 miles to the Airport.

From the East (I-40) - Alternate Route
I-40 westbound toward Knoxville.
Take Strawberry Plains Pike (Exit 398) on the east side of Knoxville.
Turn left on Strawberry Plains Pike and continue to John Sevier Highway (SR 168) and turn left.
Follow John Sevier Highway until it intersects with Alcoa Highway (US 129) and turn left.
Continue on Alcoa Highway and follow the signs to the Airport (approximately five miles).

From the West (I-40):
I-40 eastbound toward Knoxville.
At the I-640 interchange (Exit 385), follow signs "Lexington, Downtown, and University of Tennessee".
(Continue into Downtown. Do not take the I-40 East detour around I-640).
Take exit 386B (Alcoa Highway/US 129).
Follow US 129 across Tennessee River, continue for approximately 12 miles to the Airport.

Note: Traveling from the West, motorists should also consider taking I-140 (Exit 376) to the Airport as an alternate route.

From the North (I-75):
I-75 southbound toward Knoxville.
At the I-640 interchange, follow I-275 south.
Continue for 2.5 miles, take I-40 west, and follow exit 386B to Alcoa Highway/US 129.
Follow US 129 across Tennessee River, continue for approximately 12 miles to the Airport.

Directions from South of Knoxville:
From Southeast, (Townsend, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, etc), look for Hwy 321 and follow it north toward Maryville.

From Southwest, (Tellico Plains, Cherokee Forest, etc), look for Hwy 411 and follow it north toward Maryville.
Once in Maryville, follow Hwy 129 North about 4 miles to get to the Airport.
